About me (and this site …)

My name is Michael. Michael May for whom prefers it more formal. Looks English but it is German. And yes, my nationality is German, though I do not believe this to be a super important detail. I consider myself a world citizen and human commonalities so far outweigh cultural differences. I am a retired IT Service Manager an I have lately found a little bit of time to dabble with Coding (was never really part of my professional life). I am gingerly trying to figure out how I can apply freshly acquired coding skills to support another hobby of mine, which is learning and practicing foreign languages. Whatever fruits this endeavour will bear I intend to publish on this site. My first little project in that vein is my Kindle2Anki Flask App. More will come soon, as spare time allows, at least so I hope.
I am also taking the liberty to recommend and link to 3rd party resources that I personally find helpful to support my own (and by inference) other folks language learning efforts. Whenever I do so, this will be linked on my blog page.
The selfie above is taken on – I can’t remember which – beach in Portugal, a country I call my second home.
I am keeping this site in English to make it more accessible. I have build a personal homepage (in case you want to learn more about me) that I have taken the trouble to ‘hand-craft’ and make multi-lingual (EN 🇬🇧, DE 🇩🇪, FR 🇫🇷, ES 🇪🇸 and PT 🇵🇹, i.e. the languages I speak) just for the sake of getting my hands dirty with HTML, CSS and JS.
For this site Lingrify.com, you guessed it, I have made a lazier choice and I am just using WordPress. Just so much easier and powerful. Just stand on the shoulders of so much better web designers, no need to reinvent every wheel.
